

If by professional you mean produce tracks with a quality that's on par with what professionals do, then the Mac you're getting is not going to be the weakest link, YOU are. For example if you consider that having a 27" screen will allow you to lure in more customers or to charge more for your services and you guesstimate that you'll be able to end up with an average $200 more per month, but the update is $1,000, then it's no brainer: get the 27" screen and you'll have paid for it in 5 months. You would have to consider what an update costing you X amount of dollars brings you back in dollars. If you're getting paid to do work with Logic Pro then the reasoning becomes different. Professional means used for a paid occupation. Everybody is throwing around the word professional nowadays.
